New COVID-19 Vaccine Update #10: More Age Groups Now eligible

Vaccines are now available to people aged 38 and 39 (or will be 38 before 1 July 2021). You can book online through the NHS Vaccination website here.

Over 56 million vaccination have now been given, with 20 million people fully vaccinated and a further 36 million receiving their first dose. The latest figures can be found on the Government vaccine dashboard.

The national booking system has appointments at the mass vaccinations sites – the nearest being Centre for Life in Newcastle and Newcastle Eagles (details in our vaccines FAQ). You will be able to book your first and second vaccination appointments at the same time.

On Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 26th May appointments will also be available at Newcastle Eagles on Scotswood Road (location details for Newcastle Eagles can be found in our FAQ). New clinics will be released weekly for sessions at Newcastle Eagles, so if that is your preferred location and you don’t see availability, we suggest trying again in a few days. Alternately, you can book one of the other mass sites.

If you cannot book online, we’d ask patients to call the national booking line directly on 119, rather than calling the practice.

Most second dose apopointments will have been pre-booked along with the first vaccine. Text messages will be sent as a reminder to those who had their first jab between the 3rd and 5th of March.

We do not currently have any information about expediting second jabs to 8 weeks for the over 50s. As soon as we do, we will communicate it with patients. As with booking first appointments, we ask that patients please don’t call the practice. High numbers of calls make it difficult for other patients to get through, and we will share all new information as we get it.
