Beat Asthma

Beat Asthma is a diverse group of people from health professionals to parents to asthma sufferers themselves who believe passionately in improving awareness and knowledge about children’s asthma.

About 1 in 10 children or young people in the UK have asthma, and for most, it is a mild disease that doesn’t impact too much on their lives. But for others, it can be much more serious if not managed properly.

Beat Asthma was originally developed by Doctors at Newcastle’s RVI Hospital as a resource to help children and young people, and the people around them, manage their asthma effectively.

The aim was to help people understand how to manage asthma, how to recognise when things are getting worse, and what to do.

Because even if someone’s asthma is generally mild, it can become severe or even life-threatening, especially if they’re not able to recognise more serious symptoms.

The website has a wealth of resources specifically created for different groups – young people, families and children, schools and health care professionals.

There are also fantastic video guides on how various different pieces of equipment work and how to use them properly.

If you or a young person you care for has asthma, then bookmark the Beat Asthma website today.
