About the Role
Both roles will be part of the Newcastle Career Start Nursing Programme (CSNP), which offers individually structured development for post-registration Nurses to expand their primary care competencies.
This is a fixed-term development role for a period of 30 months, after which successful candidates will be able to work independently as Practice Nurses.
One role will be based at Regent Medical Centre, with time spent at North Gosforth neighbour practice Brunton Park.
The other role will be shared across the four practices in Jesmond Lower Gosforth – Avenue Medical Practice, The Grove, Roseworth Surgery and Jesmond Health Partnership.

Applications for both roles can be submitted through the NHS jobs website (reference D9134-ICB-018). The closing date is 5th August.
Duties and Development
The successful candidates will work with a Practice Nurse mentor to develop and utilise a portfolio of skills over the course of two and half years.
The exact skillset will be determined by the needs of the primary care service but would typically include:
- Treatment room duties
- Minor surgery
- Health screening and promotion
- Cervical Sampling
- Family Planning and Sexual Health
- Immunisation and Travel Health
- Chronic disease management
About You
You will have completed a Nursing degree, be a Registered General Nurse and have a valid, in-date NMC registration with two years’ post-registration experience.
As these are development roles, the ideal candidates will be ambitious and driven to grow their primary care competencies and advance their careers to become Practice Nurses.
An effective communicator, you will be able to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team, with the organisational skills and self-motivation to also work autonomously when required.

Applications close on 5th August, and must be submitted through the NHS jobs website (reference D9134-ICB-018).
About Our Networks
Jesmond Lower Gosforth and North Gosforth PCNs work collaboratively to provide first-class primary care to patients at the nine practices across our two networks.
This collective approach means that specialists from each network can work together, sharing best practices and raising standards, and teams can collectively provide the best holistic care for patients.
The networks also share a Strategic Manager who oversees the day-to-day running of both PCNs, as well as other supporting functions across business intelligence, IT, communications and project oversight.
