From today, anyone aged 30 or over can book a covid booster jab, three months after their second dose.
This is part of the announced acceleration which plans to offer every adult a booster before the end of December.
Those eligible can book online through the National Booking System, or by calling 119. Vaccinations are not booked through, nor available at the practice.
Booster vaccinations will be made available to all other adults – 18 to 29 years of age – soon, but this is not available just yet.
We would ask anyone who is not yet eligible for a booster to please continue to be patient. We have no further information at the practice, and as soon as the eligibility is extended, we will update you.
Please keep an eye on our website and our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
How to get your first, second or booster jab
There is a range of options for getting vaccinated, including pre-bookable appointments and walk-in services. Whether you are awaiting your booster, second jab or first, now is the time to do it.
Here’s how to get vaccinated:
- Use the National Booking System.
- Call NHS 119.
- Visit the Newcastle City Council website for times, dates and locations of pop-ups, vaccine bus stops and walk-ins clinics.
Boosters and Omicron variant
To combat the new omicron variant, the booster programme is being expanded to include all adults, with time spans between second and booster doses cut.
All adults will be offered a booster before the end of December, alongside 16- and 17-year-olds who are more vulnerable. All 12-15-year olds will also be offered a second dose.
