Queries about RSV vaccine for housebound patients
We are getting a lot of questions about RSV vaccinations for housebound patients.
At the moment, there is no NHS service to provide RSV vaccinations at home. If you are eligible for the vaccine, you will need to come to the surgery to have it.
RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common virus that can affect the lungs and airways. It can cause serious illness, including pneumonia, particularly in older adults.
The NHS RSV vaccine is currently offered to:
- People aged 75 and over
- Adults living in a care home for older adults
- People who are 28 weeks pregnant or more, to help protect their baby
If you are eligible and are housebound, please contact the surgery if you have any questions about getting your vaccination.
Some pharmacies may offer private RSV vaccinations at home for a fee. You can contact local pharmacies to ask if this service is available and how much it costs.
