New Flu Update: Vaccines for 50 – 64-year-olds

PRACTICE NURSE TEAM LEAD

You might have seen that more people than ever before are able to get a free NHS flu vaccination this year. The expanded eligibility is designed to reduce the strain the NHS will face over the winter months when the traditional flu season combines with the ongoing pandemic.

Everyone aged 50-64

One newly eligible group is all people aged between 50 and 64 years old. We anticipate we will have these vaccines available towards the end of November and will send out invitations when this is confirmed.

If you are in this age bracket but have an existing medical condition and have already received an invitation from us, you can make an appointment straight away.

Other Groups

We have already begun vaccinating patients in high-risk groups. This includes the over-65s, pre-school age children, pregnant women, and those with long term health conditions.

Schools will also have begun their programmes, with pupils up to Year 7 now included.
