An update from Practice Nurse Team Lead Sue Mensforth Every autumn, the NHS commits significant resources to get people vaccinated against flu. Last year, against the backdrop of Covid and mounting pressures on the NHS, more people than ever before were offered a free NHS flu shot.
If you’re aged between 50 and 64 you can call us to book your free NHS flu jab. Book your appointment now on 0191 281 4588. Our Reception Team are here to take your call from 8:15 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
We still have appointments available for our flu vaccination clinic this Saturday. The session is primarily for people aged 50 to 64 with no pre-existing health conditions and is by appointment only.
An update on our flu vaccination plans – the vaccines for people aged 50-64 have now arrived with us at JHP. If you are in this age group we are now able to take bookings for our clinic on Saturday 12th December. We will be contacting all eligible patients in the coming days.
You might have seen that more people than ever before are able to get a free NHS flu vaccination this year. The expanded eligibility is designed to reduce the strain the NHS will face over the winter months when the traditional flu season combines with the ongoing pandemic.

You may have seen a few updates from me about our first flu clinics for the younger and older members of our community. We’ve had a few queries over the last week from people asking about availability for other groups, so we wanted to give you an update.
We now have nasal flu vaccines available for 2- and 3-year-olds. We’ve written to parents and carers this week inviting them to book an appointment for their child.
