We Are Open

From Monday 16th August, if you are doubled jabbed against covid, you no longer have to self-isolate if you are a close contact of some who tests positive.

Instead, you are advised to get a PCR test – one that is sent to a lab rather than a test-at-home lateral flow test. You should also avoid clinically vulnerable people and wear a mask or face covering when in shared indoor spaces until you get a negative test result.

If you test positive, you should continue to isolate for 10 days.

This new guidance also applies to anyone aged 18 or younger. More on changes to self-isolation can be found here

Since last week, all sixteen and seventeen-year-olds can now get a covid-19 vaccine. There are thousands of appointments available every week, as well as lots of drop-in locations with no need to book ahead.

Vaccines are already protecting millions of people, and are our best way out of the pandemic. We encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated at soon as possible.

Here’s where you can get your jab in Newcastle this week:

Vertu Motors Arena

Formerly known as the Newcastle Eagles Community Arena, the Vertu Motors Arena in Elswick has regular drop-in sessions. This week’s sessions are almost full, so booking through the National Booking System or calling 119 is strongly advised.
