If you are planning on heading abroad this summer, then you may need to show your vaccination status.
The easiest way to do this is to get your NHS COVID Pass is through the free NHS App.
Please be aware that GP practices cannot provide you with proof of vaccination.
Your NHS COVID Pass
The NHS App can be downloaded to your smartphone from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store. It is free of charge.
Once you have installed the app and logged in, you will be able to see ‘Get your NHS COVID Pass’ in the Popular Services area.
From here you can view your vaccination details, download a pdf copy of your record or have it sent to you by email.
You can also produce a 2D barcode which can be scanned.
Make sure you leave enough time before you travel. It can take a bit of time to confirm your identity through the app, if you haven’t already created an NHS login.
If you received your vaccine in another country, it is not currently possible to add this to the NHS App. It can still be added by GP practices onto your medical record.

Getting a Paper Copy
If you are not able to get your COVID pass through the NHS App, you can request a paper copy. To get your vaccination letter sent to you, please call 119. You will normally receive your letter within 5 working days. GP practices cannot provide you with proof of your vaccination.

Get the NHS App
Remember, the NHS App is different from the NHS COVID-19 App. The COVID-19 App allows you to check into venues, add COVID test results and manages contact tracing. It does not hold any personal medical information.
The NHS App contains your medical records and links you to your GP’s digital services. An NHS login is needed to give you these functions in the app.
