Lots of patients are asking us about booking their second covid vaccination, so we wanted to share an update.
The clinics for the second doses are being run centrally across the city by Newcastle GP Services (NGPS), as with the first round of vaccinations.
NGPS is confirming dates for 2nd dose clinics every week. As they do, they’re letting us know which patients can be booked. We will then contact patients directly.
2nd dose priority
The order people are invited to book their second vaccine will mirror the process for the first vaccine. This means if you received your initial jab in the first week of vaccinations just before Christmas, you will likely be invited to come to the first clinic of second jabs.
Following this process means the gap between the first and second doses is consistent for everyone.
We’re getting a lot of calls from patients asking when they can be booked in for both first and second doses. We would ask you to continue to be patient and know that you will be contacted when you can book.
Vaccinations for Carers
If you are a carer – and we have that information on your medical record – then you will be invited to book an appointment when you are eligible. There’s nothing more you need to do at the moment.
For unpaid or unregistered carers, you need to contact Newcastle Carers to register with them. They will then pass that information on to us, and we’ll make sure you’re in the right place in the queue. You will need to consent to Newcastle Carers sharing your information with us.

For those who receive a carer’s allowance, you will be invited to the regional vaccination centre at Centre for Life by the Department of Work and Pensions.
