Flu Season: People 65+

Flu Season: Clinics for People 65 and over

Susan Mensforth

PRACTICE NURSE TEAM LEAD

This week we’ve written to all patients aged 65 and over inviting them to get vaccinated against flu. We encourage everyone who has been contacted to book an appointment as soon as possible.

To book, call the Reception Team on 0191 281 4588, Monday to Friday 8.15 am to 6 pm.

Getting vaccinated is especially important this year, with COVID-19 infections on the rise and the NHS likely to be more stretched as we approach the winter months.

Clinics

We are holding clinics specifically for people aged 65 and over. The next clinic with availability is:

  • Saturday 3rd October, 8:30 am to 3 pm

The clinic will be held at Holy Name Church Hall on Towers Avenue in Jesmond.

Our first clinic schedule for Saturday 26th September is now fully booked.

We will look at adding more clinics and will of course notify patients of any future clinics we put on.

What you need to know

  • The clinics are by appointment only. Please do not come if you have not booked an appointment.
  • Masks or face coverings need to be worn at all times.
  • Please do not arrive before your appointment time.
  • Parking is available on Towers Avenue.

Vaccinations for other groups

More people than ever are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination this year.

We have already held clinics for 2-3-year olds – please contact us on 0191 281 4588 if you have not yet booked an appointment for your child. School children up to and including Year 7 will have vaccines available through their schools.

Patients who were shielding earlier in the year are also eligible, along with all members of their household. In addition to people aged 65 and over, all people 50-64 will also be eligible.

Contact us or keep an eye on the website for more details on getting vaccinated.
