Welcome to our first Patient Participation Group (PPG) blog. If our blog is new, so too is our PPG. We are made up of patient and carer volunteers who have a keen interest in our new practice, its development and the services it provides.
Some of us were members of the PPGs at Holly Medical Group and The Surgery and some have just joined. We aim to cross barriers, embrace diversity and work in partnership with the practice to improve common understanding and help make sure patients’ needs – all of our needs – are fulfilled.
We held our first meeting with practice manager Vicky Watson in September and have met bi-monthly since. Our group aims to support the practice in putting the improved health and fitness of all its patients at the heart of everything Jesmond Health Partnership (JHP) does.
Our PPG is a valuable platform to share our experiences of being a patient at the practice and to put forward our perspectives on what works well and how improvements can be made. It enables us – as the patient ‘voice’ – to play a key role in the development of our new practice.
PPGs help to pull in people’s opinions and facilitate discussions between the practice and its patients – ultimately making its services better by shaping them to meet patients’ needs.
As JHP begins to settle down after the complexities of the merger, we would like to encourage patients, who may have a bit of time to spare, to find out more about us, and what we do.
- Do you have something to say but don’t have the time to attend meetings?
- Do you have ideas on how to improve our practice?
Then, you might like to consider joining us. For membership details, you can either download our PPG flyer below or visit the PPG section of the website by clicking here.
However, if you would like to join in our conversation, in order to reach the widest group of patients, we are creating a safe, friendly outlet here for helpful, constructive ideas and comments. This blog and the initiation of an online forum will enable a new virtual patient group to help patients to work together with us and share ideas before presenting them to the practice.
Let us know what you think! You can reach us at: email@example.com
Remember. It’s your GP practice. Join us and have your say!
